A remastered edition of the live album Afro Blue Impressions by American saxophonist and composer John Coltrane will be released by the end of August.
The original release was published in 1977 by Pablo Records. The new reissue celebrates the 40th anniversary of the memorable record label owned by Norman Granz, founder and producer of jazz labels Clef, Norgan, Down Home, Verve and Pablo Records.
The remastered high resolution edition will consist of nine original compositions recorded at concerts in Stockholm and Berlin in 1963 where Coltrane performed with pianist McCoy Tyner, double bassist Jimmy Garrison and drummer Elvin Jones. The new release will also include three unreleased tracks, also recorded in Stockholm: Naima, I Want To Talk About You and My Favorite Things.
The original album was released on 2 LPs in 1977, the remastered release with new liner notes and three bonus tracks will be released on 2 CDs. Listen to the composition My Favorite Things recorded in 1963 and released on the 1977 album Afro Blue Impressions.
