The new Diana Krall album will be released in autumn 2012.
The information was announced by the Canadian jazz singer/pianist and although no official further details were published, the media started speculating about a solo album since Krall did some solo concerts last year. Some papers wrote she will record the album with a big band, it remains unknown whether the sound of the album will be classic jazz or more pop inspired.
Since the release of her gold and platinum album “Quiet Nights” in 2009, this multiple Grammy awarded artist has been very busy. She played a considerable number of concerts across four continents, collaborated with Charlie Haden on his project Sophisticated Ladies, produced Barbra Streisand’s latest labum “Love Is the Answer”, participated in a project “Chimes of Freedom: The Songs of Bob Dylan” celebrating the 50th anniversary of Amnesty International and appears on Paul McCartney’s album “Kisses On The Bottom”.
After more then 15 mil sold albums worldwide and five Grammy Awards, it’s easy to understand why people are impatient when it comes to her new release. Meanwhile, Diana Krall’s new American tour is going to start in two days.
Called “Summer Nights”, the tour goes from March till September through 40 American cities accompanied by Anthony Wilson (guitar), Robert Hurst (bass) and Karriem Riggins (drums). According to her tourdates, she won’t play in Europe till autumn when she is going to promote the new album.
