Lucia Cadotsch – the 5-star singer

Lucia Cadotsch, a young Swiss artist they call “the new era jazz singer”, in a short time became known internationally when, as one of the few European musicians, she earned 5 stars on Downbeat for her album Speak Low, the most important American jazz magazine.

She sings American jazz standards that sound authentically European. In an ensemble with two great young musicians on saxophone and double bass, she reinterprets well-known songs such as Speak Low, Moon River, Don’t Explain or Strange Fruit, in a seductively new and melodic way, which prompted the Guardian critic to also rate the album with 5 stars and write: “Remember the name Lucia Cadotsch – you’re going to be hearing a lot of it.”

“Lucia Cadotsch questions the canon of standards in a such an ingenious way and casts such a spell on these songs that you get the impression that this is the only way to approach these songs: fearlessly, with an unfettered imagination” – Downbeat wrote of the singer’s performances who will perform for the first time in Sarajevo at the Jazz Fest, while the audience can expect an exceptional concert experience. “I haven’t heard anything this impressive for a long time” a Jazzpodium journalist wrote after a concert.

Lucia Cadotsch will present Speak Low project with Swedish saxophonist Otis Sandsjö and German double bassist Felix Henkelhausen at a concert on Friday 8 November at the venue Dom policije. Tickets for this concert are also valid for the solo concert of extraordinary American guitarist Miles Okazaki, who will perform Thelonious Monk’s repertoire, and are on sale via kupikartu.ba system – online (with a bank fee) and at points of sale across Bosnia and Herzegovina (without additional commission).
