Successful female artists of all generations at Jazz Fest

Excellent female artists of different generations will perform at this year’s XX2nd Jazz Fest and will hold seven concerts during the 2nd and 3rd of November, when the main program of the festival and the final part of the trilogy John Zorn in Sarajevo under the title Beyond Good and Evil will be realized.

After Jazz Fest hosted Mary Halvorson, one of the best guitarists of her generation, last month, it continues to represent outstanding artists and successful leaders on the dominant male scene in November.

On November 2, American singer Petra Haden will perform in the venue Dom policije  with her ensemble, performing the repertoire of an unpublished album, while on the third of November, Argentinian singer Sofia Rei will perform in the duet with the saz player JC Maillard.

In the concert of the interesting music concept Cobra, on November 2, in the venue Dom policije, Korean cellist Okkyoung Lee and Japanese veteran of electronics Ikue Mori will perform as a part of this 14-member ensemble.

XX2nd Jazz Fest Sarajevo for the first time also presents band Klezmerson with bassist Carina Lopez. This six-member ensemble from Mexico will hold two concerts – within the The Book of Angels Special program (November 3, 15:00 in SARTR venue) and within the book The Book Beriah Marathon (November 3, Dom policije venue, at 22:30).

The Book Beriah Marathon will have its European premiere in Sarajevo on XX2nd Jazz Fest, and the well-known Gnostic Trio composed by guitarist Bill Frisell, vibraphonist Kenny Wollesen and harpist Carol Emanuel will perform as a part of the marathon, as well as the band of Jon Madoff Zion80 with saxophonist Jessica Laurie.
