Swiss trombonist Samuel Blaser, “a rising star” as he was named by DownBeat magazine, will perform on 03 November at the 20th Jazz Fest in a trio with French guitarist Marc Ducret and Danish drummer Peter Bruun.
The trombone is an instrument that we do not hear too often in modern jazz formations, especially in the role of the leading instrument, but in the hands of Blaser it proves to be an instrument which offers far more participation than just creating background sound textures.
A Fulbright Scholarship enabled him to study in the United States, he has received the J.J. Johnson Award for his craft and proved to be an artist who marches forward quickly and boldly, toward an ever growing musical freedom.
He has worked with famous artists such as percussionist Paul Motian and Pierre Favre and formed a trio in 2013 under his own name with two passionate improvisers, Ducret and Bruun. This trio takes the audience on a musical journey that is both fearless and uninhibited, proving that limits exist only to be pushed forward, wiped and destroyed, opening up an entire vastness of musical ideas yet to be explored.
Tickets for the Samuel Blaser Trio can be purchased at presale prices at this link or booked at this link. A ticket for this concert is also valid for the two concerts that will be held on the same day at Pozorište mladih: the one by trio Tatran and a solo performance of guitarist Marc Ducret.
