Tzadik is a record label which was founded in 1995 by John Zorn, who is also the executive producer of all Tzadik releases. In the past 20 years, Tzadik has released some of the best albums of experimental and avant-garde music out there, introducing contemporary composers-musicians from around the world.
The first Tzadik artist who performed at Jazz Fest was Anthony Coleman, who introduced his trio Sephardic Tinge, with bassist Ben Street and drummer Michael Sarin, at a concert at the 3rd Jazz Fest in 1999, whereas at this year’s, 20th Jazz Fest, within John Zorn’s Bagatelles Marathon Sarajevo on 4 November, Zorn will be performing together with 25 musicians who have been successfully releasing for the cult record label for many years and are on top of the famous New York downtown scene.
