High Risk, the ensemble of American trumpeter and composer Dave Douglas is releasing the new album Dark Territory this month.
Douglas’ High Risk quartet of bassist Jonathan Maron, drummer Mark Guiliana and producer and DJ Shigeto has presented an interesting melt of instrumental music and electronic production on their debut release last year.
“Dark Territory follows up on this area of risk, going into new, as yet unexplored musical spaces”, explained Douglas in a comment about the new album’s repertoire to be released on 16 April for his own record label Greenleaf Music. Dark Territory will be available as limited LP edition, but also as digital release through online music store channels.
Dave Douglas, who is active on the international music scene since the 1980’s has released more then 40 albums under his own name, he is a member SF Jazz Collective and various ensembles that perform John Zorn‘s compositions. We had the chance to hear him live at Jazz Fest Sarajevo in 2008 when he had two performances – with his trio with Scott Colley and Mark Feldman and as a member of the Misha Mengelberg Quartet with Mengelberg, Han Bennink and Ernst Glerum.
Douglas will be promoting the new album Dark Territory with his quartet on an American tour during May and come to Europe for dates scheduled for summer. Watch the short video below.
