The online Magazine Daily Beast has published a list of musicians who, having in mind their previous work or exceptional talent, are less known to the general public, but are worth our attention in the times to come.
Among 40 names on the list are musicians of different generations like the young and extremely talented pianist Joey Alexander or multi-instrumentalist Jacob Collier, as well as older artists like vocalist Laura Mvula, by critics considered the new soul star, or saxophonist Kamasi Washington, whose album The Epic was featured on many lists of best albums in 2015.
We had the chance to see some of the musicians from the American magazine’s list in Sarajevo, at the Jazz Fest. Pianist Ethan Iverson, member of the trio The Bad Plus performed at 16th Jazz Fest Sarajevo in 2012, while Arve Henriksen who held a concert at last year’s festival with guitarist Christian Fennesz, has introduced himself two more times, in 2005 also in a duet, but with Jan Bang, and in 2010 when he played a solo concert within Jazz Fest’s music happening Xenophonia.
