Over Sarajevo to London

American guitarist Bill Frisell is going on European tour this week. He will be presenting his recently released project Guitar in the Space Age!

By mid November the tour will count 21 concerts at halls throughout Europe including a performance within 18th Jazz Fest at Sarajevo’s BKC on 6th November. The series of Guitar in the Space Age! concerts is ending with a performance at London’s Barbican.

Frisell is touring with his ensemble consisting of his longtime collaborators: guitarist Greg Leisz, bassist Tony Scherr and drummer Kenny Wollesen with whom he recorded his latest album. Music critics praise their performance as sophisticated musicianship evoking some of most recognizable moments in music of the 50’s and 60’s like Chuck Berry, Charlie Christian, Chet Atkins, The Ventures and The Beach Boys, at a time when Frisell was a little boy thrilled by space launches and dreaming of an exciting future.

In it’s review of the new album British Guardian called Frisell one of most the creative guitarists of today who, after 50 years of playing, went back to his musical roots. If these roots did not shape his career, they at least must have shaped it’s beginnings. Guardian described the project as “serious, witty, layered and subtle”.

Tickets for Bill Frisell’s concert can be booked until Friday, 24th October at this link or bought at the Festival Box Office at BKC starting on Monday, 27th October.
