James Blood Ulmer, a legendary American jazz and blues guitarist, will take the audience of XX1st Jazz Fest Sarajevo on a journey through time, back in the days of Delta Mississippi, but also forward, to the world of free jazz improvisation and “harmolodic” blues.
This American guitarist and vocalist with the amazing baritone, began his five-decade long career in New York in the 70s, and has worked with Art Blakey, Paul Bley and Ornette Coleman. For decades he has been experimenting with free jazz, soul, be-bop and rock, and in recent years he has committed to blues.
Rolling Stone Magazine named him “the most original guitarist after Jimi Hendrix,” and Detroit Free Press called him “wildly original guitar hero.”
Ulmer’s brilliant playing technique combined with an appealing vocals capture the authentic blues atmosphere that do not leave the audience indifferent.
