Two concerts at Bosanski kultuni centar will be held on the occasion of the opening of the 20th international music festival Jazz Fest Sarajevo 2016.
The festival will be opened on 2nd of November by the Norwegian pianist and composer Bugge Wesseltoft who marks 20 years of his project New Conception of Jazz with a new ensemble of the same name consisting of four young artist Marthe Lea, Oddrun Lilja Jonsdottir, Sanskriti Shrestha and Øyun Kjenstad playing saxophone, guitar, board and drums. These young, sophisticated and energetic musicians boldly participate in a new and exciting Bugge Wesseltoft’s search for the always new conception of jazz.
After the concert of the young ensemble led by experienced Wesseltoft, follows the ensemble of the top American artist Rob Mazurek who has released 55 albums in 30 years of his career and composed more than 300 original compositions. This year at Jazz Fest in Sarajevo he will be presenting a repertoire from the album recorded with Sao Paulo Underground trio, that will only be released later this month. Exceptional musicians gathered in this ensemble will bring the sound of Brazil to Sarajevo, an electro-acoustic mix of intriguing and exciting compositions and great collective and solo improvisations.
Both concerts will be held on 2nd of November at Bosanski kulturni centar, with one ticket valid for both performances. Except for the solo concerts at Vijećnica, all festival tickets are valid for two or more concerts with the aim to enable Jazz Fest audiences to have the opportunity to attend as many performances as possible, that are to be held this year by a total of 29 ensembles within the main festival program.
On the first day of the festival at 23:45 at Vijećnica, the audience will also get the chance to listen to the exceptional pianist Nitai Hershkovits who will introduce himself with a solo concert.
