New Praise for Nitai Hershkovits

The first album under his own name by pianist and composer Nitai Hershkovits I Asked You A Question, an eclectic and genuine combination of improvisation and original compositions, keeps gaining recognition and critics’ attention.

The French Jazz Magazine called it a “revelation”, the British UK Vibes “a wonderfully thoughtful collection of tunes that is refreshingly different to much else on offer”, whereas Jazz Today described it as an “interesting merge of samples, keyboards, vocals and percussion which evokes memories of psychedelic, oriental and retro-futuristic music.”

Hershkovits, whom we’ve heard in Sarajevo two years ago at the 18th Jazz Fest as a member of the Avishai Cohen Trio, has recorded his first album in a collaboration with producer Rejoicer, with guest appearances of vocalist Georgia Anne Muldrow and guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel. The album will soon be available on vinyl as well.

Jazz Fest’s audience will have the chance to listen to Hershkovits again within this year’s, 20th Jazz Fest program. This time, he is going play a solo concert on 2 November in Sarajevo at Gradska vijećnica. Tickets for and all other Jazz Fest concerts can be bought at the link tickets.
