Swiss trombonist Samuel Blaser was named one of the most important trombonists of the year in the category Rising Star by the renowned DownBeat Magazine.
The complete DownBeat critics poll will be published in the August issue, however it was already announced that the trombonist, whom we will listen to at 20th Jazz Fest, is the only European musician nominated in this category. This accolade is the second one for Samuel Blaser this year, who was nominated for the French Prix de l’Académie du Jazz in the category Musicien Européen earlier this year, alongside saxophonist and clarinetist John Surman and saxophonist Evan Parker.
After playing around twenty concerts last month in Europe, Blaser will continue to perform with his trio next month in France, during October he is going to introduce his music to Canadian audiences and be back in Europe for more concerts in November, when he will play on the 3rd at Jazz Fest, in a trio with Marc Ducret and Peter Bruun.
Tickets for the Sarajevo concert can be bought at the link Tickets. The ticket for the Samuel Blaser Trio concert will enable audiences to watch two more concerts for the price of one – Marc Ducret’s solo performance and the trio Tatran, who will both also perform at Pozorište mladih on 3 November.
