ECHO Jazz award for Nils Wogram

Trombonist and composer Nils Wogram has won the prestigious music award ECHO Jazz for best German instrumentalist in the category Brass Instruments.

Wogram is a highly respected artist on the international music scene with a discography comprising of 23 albums he recorded as a bandleader. He was awarded this year’s ECHO Jazz for Nature, the latest release by his trio Nostalgia, with organist Arno Krijger and drummer Dejan Terzić along his side. The Banja Luka born Terzić has performed at Jazz Fest Sarajevo as a member of European Assembly (2003), Underground (2006) and the trio  Seferović/Del Ferro/Terzić (2007).

Nils Wogram will have his second performance at Jazz Fest at this year’s edition. In 2003 he held a concert with his project Root 70, while this November he will be playing one with Bojan Zulfikarpašić. The two musicians will be promoting their joint album at the 20th Jazz fest Sarajevo.

Other winners of this year’s ECHO Jazz include trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf who held a spectacular closing concert of the 18th Jazz Fest 2014, pianist Tigran Hamasyan who opened last year’s festival edition, bassist Dieter Ilg whom we heard performing as a member of the ensemble Dhafer Youssef & Digital Prophecy at 7th Jazz Fest and Hamilton de Holanda who held a solo concert on the bandolim at 17th Jazz Fest 2013.
