Nominees for this year’s prestigious German music prize ECHO Jazz have been announced. Among national and international artists that are being awarded, German trombonist, composer and bandleader Nils Wogram is nominated twice.
Wogram’s Nostalgia trio, which he forms with organist Arno Krijger and drummer Dejan Terzić is nominated for German Ensemble Of The Year, while Wogram himself is among nominees for German Instrumentalist Of The Year in the category Brasswinds.
Jazz Fest’s audience had the chance to listen to Nils Wogram at the 7th Jazz Fest Sarajevo 2003 when he performed with his ensemble Root 70, while his Nostalgia trio member Dejan Terzić opened the 10th Jazz Fest Sarajevo 2006 with his project Underground. In 2007 Terzić performed at the Jazz Fest again, in a trio with Mike Del Ferro and Enes Seferović.
Among international nominees for the ECHO Jazz award are numerous Jazz Fest participants from previous years, like the trio The Bad Plus, Tigran Hamasyan, Joshua Redman, Bachar Khalife, Avishai Cohen, Dieter Ilg, Ibrahim Maalouf, Gerardo Núñez, John Scofield and Hamilton de Holanda.
The ECHO Jazz awarding ceremony will be held in Hamburg on 26 May. You can find the entire list of nominees here.
