On Wednesday, second festival day, at 20.30 on the main stage of Bosanski kulturni centar, American pianist Jason Moran is going to present his current project Fats Waller Dance Party, dedicated to pianist, composer, vocalist and entertainer Fats Waller whose innovations are interwoven not only in the foundations of jazz but popular music in general.
This project came to be four years ago, with the album recorded in 2014 when it received a Grammy nomination in the category for best instrumental jazz album.
Jason Moran has received numerous awards, magazine Rolling Stone named him the most provocative thinker in current jazz and for exceptional work to date, he was honoured with the prestigious McArthur Genius Award.
“This will be a party, a way to let loose”, said Moran while announcing his concert in Sarajevo, emphasising how Fats Waller’s music has always affected people in a way that offers a moment to forget about worries and everyday mayhem.
At 22.00 at club Monument, the Late Nite stage of 19th Jazz Fest will be presenting a home band of Bosnian and Herzegovinian musicians with a special guest, Macedonian trumpeter Trajče Velkov.
Tickets for Jason Moran’s concert can be bought at Bosanski kulturni centar from 12.00 and for the Late Nite Stage at Club Monument before concert start.
