New project by Vlado Džihan at Jazz Fest

This year’s, 19th in a row international music festival Jazz Fest Sarajevo 2015, which will be held form 03 to 08 November, is going to present among others the current project of Bosnian and Herzegovinian artist Vlado Džihan.

The Sarajevan who resides between Vienna and Berlin is known to international audiences as a member of the successful duo dZihan & Kamien who introduced their joint project Gran Riserva more then a decade ago bringing an interesting combination of jazz and electronica. With the new project Džihan went a step further presenting, in his own words, an exciting “clash of jazz and electronics, real music for the soul”.

Under the pseudonym Edgar Tones and together with the singers from trio The Su’sis and an ensemble, Džihan offers audiences dance music that brings them back to the 1920’s evoking glamorous champagne parties with the sound of piano and saxophone in the background. Sophisticated and a little wild at the same time, emotional but also bold, classical with a touch of electronics – describes in short the music that is followed by a matching stage performance.

On 08 November at the stage of the Bosnian Cultural Center the eight member ensemble Edgar Tones & The Su’sis will be joined by a 10 member brass section consisting of professional musicians and attendants of the Music Meeting program, led by trumpeter Marko Đorđević from Belgrade. This year Jazz Fest is organizing the 4th educational program Music Meeting that’s gathering musicians and music students from the entire region. The complete festival line up is going to be announced soon together with the call for applications for the upcoming Music Meeting.
