Norwegian saxophonist and opera singer Håkon Kornstad has released the album Live in Sarajevo, a recording of a concert held at last year’s Jazz Fest.
On 8 November 2014 Kornstad presented his project Dwell Time to the audience of 18th Jazz Fest Sarajevo in the sold out concert hall of the Bosnian Cultural Centre. This concerts was recorded and like the concerts of Miroslav Tadić and Brothers Teofilović and Ibrahim Maalouf broadcasted by the Norwegian national radio.
Live in Sarajevo is the first solo album by the Norwegian artist critics are very fond of, calling him “one of the leading improvisors of the new millennium” and “contemporary jazz legend”.
“Everything from that night in that concert hall is on this recording, including the atmosphere created by a fantastic audience. Enjoy!”, wrote Kornstad announcing the album recorded by Eric Bajramović from Gramofon, a Sarajevo based production house, and mixed by Jan Erik Kongshaug at Rainbow Studio in Oslo. The album is available on iTunes.
This is the third album recorded at Jazz Fest Sarajevo after Very Much Alive, an album released by drummer Paolo Vinaccia in 2010 that includes a concert by Terje Rypdal Trio held in Sarajevo in 2002 and the album Live by Amira Medunjanin recorded in 2008 and released the following year.
Jazz Fest Sarajevo has an opulent archive of concert recordings held within festival programs from the past 18 years, new audio and video recordings can be expected soon.
