One of leading improvisers of the new millennium

Norwegian saxophonist, flutist and opera singer Hakon Kornstad is going to introduce his solo project Dwell Time at 18th Jazz Fest Sarajevo.

This won’t be the first time for Bosnian and Herzegovinian audience to listen to this versatile artist. He performed as a member of Jazzland Community at the Jazz Fest in 2007 where some of most important musicians of Scandinavian scene were introduced, musicians whose influence is growing and becoming globally important.

In the meantime he released three solo projects, among others Dwell Time rated as “captivating”, “perfect little masterpiece” (All About Jazz), “stunning album” (DownBeat) and “jewel of Kornstad’s dazzling discography” (Dagbladet).

Despite the fact that he uses only his own imagination and a simple electronic device he records with and reproduces loops he creates live on stage, the Norwegian saxophonist manages to evoke orchestral performances at his solo concerts where between diverse layers lies hidden a opulence of improvised melodies.

Kornstad who is being called “one of new millennium’s leading improvisers” (All About Jazz) reveals to his audience yet unknown soundscapes. Combined with his opera singing, his tenor saxophone performances get a whole new and unexpected meaning.

Tickets for Hakon Kornstad’s concert on 8 November at 20.00 can be booked at this link. That same ticket is, beside Kornstad’s concert, valid for the concert of Avishai Cohen Trio that same night at 21.00.
