Last Dance, a new release by pianist Keith Jarrett and double bassist Charlie Haden is available from today through the web site of record label ECM.
This is the second duet album of these two artist, it consists of recordings made in 2007 at Jarrett’s home studio, where he played with Haden for the first time after 30 years. Haden used to be a member of Jarrett’s trio, and later quartet during the 70’s.
Last Dance is a sort of follow-up to their 2010 release Jasmine consisting of jazz standards and love songs, among others My Old Flame, My Ship, It Might As Well Be Spring, Everything Happens To Me and Every Time We Say Goodbye, including new versions of Where Can I Go Without You and Goodbye from the 2010 release.
“When we play together, it’s like two people singing“, said Jarrett about the sentiment of material recorded in 2007. “Keith is really listening, and I do too. That’s the secret. It’s all about listening“, added Haden, whom Jazz Fest’s audience had the chance to listen to in 2005 at the 9th edition of Jazz Fest Sarajevo where he preformed with his Liberation Music Orchestra and pianist Carla Bley.
Last Dance will be available in digital format on 16 June through online music selling services. Listen to a fragment of one of the compositions from the new album.
