36th edition of Bergamo Jazz Festival, one of the oldest of its kind on the Old Continent, ended last night with a concert of a band of Indian percussionist Trilok Gurtu with a special guest, Norwegian trumpeter Mathias Eick.
We have watched both musicians on stage of Jazz Fest Sarajevo and two more musicians as well who on Saturday night shared the stage of Donizetti theater, where this year’s jazz festival in Bergamo took place.
Thanks to festival artistic director Enrico Ravi, famous trumpeter and composer who was responsible for this festival’s program during past three years, a quartet of American trumpeter Dave Douglas who performed together with fellow American trumpeter Tom Harrell was introduced. This concert by exceptional artists named “Dave Douglas invites very special guest Tom Harrell” represented for the audience, without a doubt an unusual music experience. Roman audience will have the chance to participate in the same experience tonight at Auditorium Parco della Musica.
Tom Harrell performed with his quintet at Jazz Fest Sarajevo in 2005 and Dave Douglas in 2008 in a trio with Mark Feldman and Scott Colley.
On the photograph taken at rehearsals on a day before the concert Douglas and Harrell are playing with bassist Linda Oh, who together with pianist Luis Perdomo and drummer Anwar Marshall forms the quartet of Dave Douglas.
