17th Jazz Fest starts tonight!

17th year in a row the lights on stage of international music festival Jazz Fest Sarajevo will be turned on tonight. In the following six days, until 10 November some of important names of international music scene will be presented.

The festival will be opened with a concert at Bosnian Cultural Center at 20:00 by Abraham Inc., a ten member ensemble consisting of artists from the US, Canada and Australia who will play a unique fusion of klezmer, hip-hop, funk and jazz. The ensemble is led by virtuous clarinetist and one of most popular representatives of klezmer music David Krakauer and funk maestro Fred Wesley.

Krakauer’s discography contains some of most important recordings released within past few decades when it comes to the clarinet, while Wesley earned his international reputation by performing and composing for James Brown, he was also named the best known sideman in the world who defined funk as we know it today.

After the BKC concert festival program will continue at club Monument where Sarajevo born Canadian trumpeter Miron Rafajlović is going to introduce his Bosnian and Hercegovenian quintet at 22:00.
