Abraham Inc, the 10 musician ensemble whose full name is Abraham Incorporated will open this years, 17th in a row international music festival Jazz Fest Sarajevo, bringing an interesting combination of klezmer, funk, hip hop and jazz.
They are a collective consisting of artists with different musical backgrounds founded on the initiative of virtuos clarinetist and one of most popular representatives of klezmer music David Krakauer. His rich discography consists of some of most important released recordings in the last decade when it comes to the clarinet.
Other important members of Abraham Inc. are Canadian multi instrumentalist SoCalled as well as funk maestro, trombonist Fred Wesley who used to be an important member of bands of James Brown, Bootsy Collins and Parliament Funkadelic. He started his career as a teenager in the band of Ike and Tina Turner. While composing for and performing with James Brown, thanks to his unique groove orchestration and precise solos, Wesley gained the status of the best known sideman ever who defined funk as we know it today.
The first Abraham Inc. album Tweet Tweet was released two years ago. It hit the charts and reached number one as best sold record in the fields of funk and Jewish music. This collective’s performances offer an interesting musical expression that uses a combination of Eastern European Jewish musical heritage, James Brown manner funk and hip hop beats.
