34 Album Collection

On 12 November Columbia/Legacy Recordings will release 34 disc box set named Herbie Hancock: The Complete Columbia Album Collection 1972-1988.

The box set comes in a chest with removable lid and will contain the whole Herbie Hancock Columbia Records and CBS/Sony Japan catalog – 32 albums on 34 CDs among which are Sunlight, Magic Windows and Lite Me Up, albums that have never been issued on CD in the US and some albums that are out of print for years.

Each album will be packaged in a mini-LP CD cardboard replica of the original jacket.

Accompanying the discs will be a special 200-page book – the most detailed discographies ever published with info about musicians and instruments they played, recording data (dates, producers, engineers and other individuals who worked on songs and albums, studios and more technical info), Billboard chart info and a short-form discography of Hancock’s solo recording career before and after his so called Columbia years.

The book also contains dozens of rare photographs and a glossary of more then 60 electronic  instruments that Hancock and his musicians played during recording the albums from the box-set which can already be pre-ordered at Amazon.
