Taksim in Sarajevo

Taksim Trio, an amazing musical phenomena, an ensemble of three virtuosos will open this year’s, 16th in a row, Jazz Fest Sarajevo on 30 October at the Bosnian cultural center. The complete program of the festival, that runs till 04 November, will be published next week.

The Taksim Trio concert is a sort of a musical curiosity because it is an ensemble that is performing again after a three year break. They are going to introduce themselves in Sarajevo for the first time to this part of Europe.

Hüsnü Senlendirici who plays the clarinet and balaban, İsmail Tunçbilek on baglama and Aytaç Doğan on the kanun create music that successfully combines their own traditional Turkish music heritage with jazz and classic music, creating a sound that, even thought it might sound familiar, opens new horizonts reflecting the distinctive musical identity of Taksim Trio.

The trio members demonstrate a perfect technique in their improvisations. Their honest and overwhelming oriental sound is ancient and contemporary at the same time. Each of their compositions exudes the freshness of East meeting West, just like Istanbul itself, the city they are coming from.
