Two new albums of Victor Wooten

American bassist Victor Wooten, a member of Béla Fleck and the Flecktones, will release two albums on 25 September, Words and Tones and Sword and Stone.

The album Words and Tones is a song collection interpreted by different female vocalists, whilst Sword and Stone consists of differently interpreted instrumental versions of the same songs, showing Wooten’s variant approach to music, interpretation and composition.

The material was recorded in Nashville, and beside composing and playing, Wooten himself produced, engineered and mixed the album that will be released under his own label Vix Records.

This awarded musician plays fretless and acoustic bass guitar, cello, keyboards and percussion on the two new albums. He also wrote string arrangements and contributed vocals. The album Words and Stones features Saundra Williams, Divinty Roxx, Claudette Sierra and Krystal Peterson.

Beside five Grammy awards, he won almost everything there is to win for a bass player including the Bass Player of the Year title three times in a row, awarded by the Bass Player Magazine.

With his 1996 debut album A Show of Hands, which was reissued last year in a remastered edition with bonus tracks, as well as with the records that followed, Wooten continued to put the bass playing on a new level in the music world that is usually reserved for pianists and guitarists.
