Second Blue Note Jazz Festival in New York

In New York started the Blue Note Jazz Festival three days ago and it will go on till 30 June, gathering many musicians with over 50 concerts in different venues around the city.

During the twenty festival days, among others, these musicians will perform: McCoy Tyner, Roy Haynes i Jack DeJohnette, Buika, Béla Fleck, Michel Camilo, Flamenco Soul Project directed by Javier Limon, Kathleen Battle, Cassandra Wilson, Jimmy Scott, Stephanie Mills, Bootsy Collins, Commodores, Soulive, Questlove, Black Thought, Rhazel, Soul Rebelsi i Groove Theory.

The legendary jazz club Blue Note, in New York’s Greenwich Village, celebrated last year it’s 30th anniversary with the Blue Note Jazz Festival consisting of over 80 concerts in 15 jazz venues.

During past years, legendary names like Dizzy Gillespie, Oscar Peterson, Sarah Vaughan and Ray Charles performed on the Blue Note stage, as well as contemporary jazz musicians like Dave Brubeck, Wynton Marsalis, Chick Corea, Keith Jarrett and Chris Botti.

The Blue Note club opened in 1981 as part of the Blue Note Entertainment Group, which opened another three  Blue Note Clubs during the last 30 years in Tokyo, Osaka and Milan. The Group also owns a record label, Half Note Records, with over 50 releases in the catalogue, all of which were recorded at the Blue Note Club.
