“Zurich-New York: Intakt Records at The Stone” is the name of a two week festival held last month at New York’s The Stone, 40 artist who work with and for the independent label Intakt Records were gathered.
The Stone is a non profit venue that has promoted experimental and avan-garde music for tha last eight years. John Zorn, composer and art manager of the club offered the venue and Intakt founder Patrik Londolt responded with this ambicious and complex project.
„Zurich-New York“ featured just a few Intakt signed artist at 26 concerts. The label was founded 1986 and has published over 200 releases.
Among Swiss artist were pianist Irène Schweizer, drummer and percussionist Pierre Favre, saxophonists Jürg Wickihalder i Co Streiff, drummer Lucas Niggli, pianists Gabriela Friedli and Sylvie Courvoisier, and among band leaders from the American continet have performed saxophonist Oliver Lake, drummers Andrew Cyrille and Tom Rainey, guitarist Elliott Sharp and female saxophone player Ingrid Laubrock.
