Cassandra Wilson announced new album

The record label eOne Music signed Cassandra Wilson and announced her new album set for release at the end of spring this year.

The album called Another Country will contain Wilson’s original tracks produced and co-written by her musical partner, guitarist and producer Fabrizio Scotti. Music for the new CD was recorded at studios in Florence, Italy and New Orleans. Promotional comments on the material proclaim the album as a turning point in Wilson’s career.

About the new record Cassandra Wilson said, “One of the greatest gifts we can receive as human beings is the opportunity to walk in someone else’s shoes and witness the world through someone else’s eyes. Another Country takes us on a journey filled with experiences that open our hearts and minds to the promise of many worlds with infinite possibilities.”

During her long, acclaimed relationship with Blue Note Records, Wilson won two Grammys, one for Best Jazz Vocal Performance in 1996 for New Moon Daughter and another for Best Jazz Vocal Album for her 2009 album, Loverly. Among the countless accolades she has received during her career, Wilson won the DownBeat Critic’s Poll award for eleven consecutive years, from 1996-2006, and again from 2008-2011. She is also a ten-time winner of the DownBeat Reader’s Poll.

The new album is supposed to be released on 5th June.
