New Chick Corea releases

When it comes to new discography, chuck Corea has a working start of 2012. After he celebrated his 70th birthday last year and had great series of concerts at New York Blue Note where he was a resident artist who was jointed on the scene by Herbie Hancock, Gary Burton and Jack DeJohnette, he started this year with two significant editions.

“Further Explorations” was released at the end of January for Concord Jazz label, as an album of trio consisting of legendary bass player Eddie Gomez and drummer Paul Motian who died last year in November.

Material for double CD was recorded from 4th till 17th of May 2010 in New York club Blue Note. It covers Bill Evans repertoire and it brings original compositions of trio members.

At the beginning of February, Deutsche Grammophone brought us one more Corea’s album – double CD “The Continents”, concert for jazz quintet and chamber orchestra. More about this release in following video.

This multiple Grammy winner has triumphed this year also at this prestigious award ceremony in two categories. He got Grammy for the best instrumental jazz album “Forever”, he recorded with bass player Stanley Clark and drummer Lenny white and for the best improvised jazz solo in the composition “500 Miles High” from “Forever” album.
