Kurt Elling will during six nights, from 25th to 30th October, be a resident in New York’s renowned jazz club Birdland, with the famous Danish Klüvers Big Band. However, this 18-member ensemble and Elling will be joined on the scene by several special guests – Miguel Zenon, Ravi Coltrane, Lew Tabackin, Robin Eubanks, and Stefon Harris.
The New York Times called Elling”a prominent male vocalist of our time”, and in each of the last 12 years this artist was voted by the Downbeat magazine’s critics the title of”Male Jazz Vocalist of the Year”.
Elling, who was the guest at the 13th Jazz Fest Sarajevo in 2009, released his last album
The Gate in February this year. The album is inspired by interpretations of the Beatles, Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, and Stevie Wonder. Currently Kurt Elling is working on his new project, 1619 Broadway.
