Tatran @ 20th Jazz Fest Sarajevo

Among ensembles of the new generation to premier at 20th Jazz Fest Sarajevo 2016 this November, is the young Israeli trio Tatran.

Guitarist Tamuz Dekel, bassist Offir Benjaminov and Facebook drums sensation Dan Mayo formed Tatran in 2011. They have been dedicated to combining “modern jazz, rock, classical music, folk, avant-garde, post-rock, experimental music and electronics, with the aim to produce an ecstatic musical experience” since 2011. A fast growing worldwide fan community indicates that they are very successfully at it. Their music is characterized by interesting arrangements, authenticity and collective improvisation.

In the past three years the trio has held more then 150 concerts at festivals and concert halls worldwide. For this year they announced a Canadian, American and European tour that will kick off in Sarajevo, where they will be performing within Jazz Fest’s anniversary program.

After their 2014 debut release Sahvat and the live album Soul Ghosts released in 2015, Tatran has finished recording their forthcoming album, set for release this year.

Listen to their original composition Anar from the debut release Sahvat and the composition Strawberry Fields Forever by John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
