This year´s Jazz Fest Sarajevo is going to start on 03 November presenting it’s audience until 08 November names among which also Al Di Meola, the American guitarist who is among most important artists and by all means, one of most important guitarists on music scene in the past 40 year.
Di Meola will be performing at the Bosnian Cultural Center on 05 November with his trio with Italian guitarist Peo Alfonsi and Hungarian drummer and percussionist Peter Kaszas presenting the repertoire from his just released album Elysium as well as compositions from his previous albums.
The very beginning of his career got praised with a Grammy Award when he was a member of Return to Forever, the band he joined at age of 19. While exploring different styles, he became best known in the field of so called jazz rock fusion where he created his authentic and exceptional style. Dozens of albums go on his account among which is the iconic record Elegant Gypsy. With Paco de Lucia and John McLaughlin, Di Meola recorded one of the most influential live albums in the history of music, sold in multiple million copies.
His latest album called Elysium or Heaven, was released this year. It consists of Di Meola´s original compositions, played on acoustic and electric guitar in his distinguishable style. The audience at the concert in Sarajevo is going to be presented by the acoustic version of the repertoire.
The complete program of 19th Jazz Fest Sarajevo 2015 will be announced next week. Festival´s directorate already announced names of some of this year´s participants like pianist Tigran Hamasyan whose trio will open Jazz Fest, vocalist and Grammy Award winner Kurt Elling and the ensemble Edgar Tones & The Su’sis with Big Band.
