After successful concerts marking the start of their 2019 concert season’s new project – Grlom u jagode (Rushing headlong), Jazz Fest continues the season they organize between the two festivals in co-production with the Sarajevo War Theater.
The audience will get the chance to also attend the concerts of international and B&H musicians from September to December.
A concert of one of the currently most active regional jazz bands, Fish in Oil from Belgrade, is planned for September 23. After performing at numerous European festivals including a club performance at the last year’s Jazz Fest, saxophonist Dušan Petrović, guitarist Bratislav Radovanović, bassist Branislav Radojković, drummer Tom Feđa Franklin and percussionist Papa Nick will perform a repertoire composed of original music coloured by blues, rock ‘n’roll, surf, folk, free-jazz, although this band categorically resists the music genre division.
A concert by the Bosnian-Swiss accordionist Mario Batković is planned for October 25, and for November 7, as a part of the 23rd Jazz Fest Sarajevo program, audience will be presented a performance of the cult Dutch band The Ex , while in December, B&H singer and songwriter Damir Avdić (residing in Slovenia) will promote his new album.
On September 30 at the venue Klub 1, Jazz Fest Sarajevo will present a concert by a trio of guitarist of younger generation Wendy Eisenberg, who will make their debut as part of their European tour, The Stone in Europe. Together with the super rhythm section, Wendy discovers new sonic landscapes and redefines the idea of a guitar trio.
