XX2nd edition of the international music festival Jazz Fest Sarajevo will be held from 2nd to 4th of November 2018.
This year’s festival is dedicated to the music of John Zorn, one of the most important contemporary American composers, and is the final part of the trilogy Musick and Magick, which started as The Bagatelles Marathon in 2016 on the occasion of the jubilee 20th edition of Jazz Fest Sarajevo.
The European premiere of Zorn’s great discography project of 11 CDs The Book Beriah, the third book of Masada, will be presented in Sarajevo as a part of the marathon which will present the bands Secret Chiefs 3, Banquet of Spirits, Klezmerson, Gnostic Trio, Zion 80 and others, and the audience of XX2nd Jazz Fest will have the opportunity to attend the world premiere of the Angels Quartet.
This year’s festival brings a combination of old and new acquaintances of Jazz Fest audience, and American vocalist Petra Haden and Argentinian Sofia Rei will for the first time perform at the festival.
Program of XX2nd Jazz Fest will comprise more than 20 concerts including Dosterrados* – a special festival program featuring various Bosnian artists performing Sephardic songs, with the premier of combination of flamenco and Sufi tradition on the Jazz Fest scene.
The program of the Late Nite Stage which will present musicians from the region as well as the children’s program, will be announced in September, and the tickets will be on sale in May, on the official website of Jazz Fest Sarajevo www.jazzfest.ba.
