XX1st Jazz Fest Sarajevo starts next week!

On Tuesday, 31st of October, the lights will be lit for the 21st time on the stage of the international music festival Jazz Fest Sarajevo that will present 21 concerts as a part of the main festival program during the six festival days.

At the Festival Center, at Dom policije to which Jazz Fest Sarajevo returns after 12 years, from October 31st to November 5th, 19 concerts and accompanying programs will be organised – a concert for children, lectures, workshops, master classes, and two concerts will be organised in the hall of the Sarajevo War Theater.

The first three days of the festival, the audience from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina and various European countries, can expect a three-day Musick and Magick program that will present the opus of John Zorn, one of the most significant American composers of today, during which different music genres will be presented, ranging from classical music to “metal”, a total of 11 ensembles of some of the most important New York musicians.

In the second part of the program, XX1st Jazz Fest Sarajevo will present music veterans such as James Blood Ulmer, Hamid Drake, and artists of middle and younger generation like Mats Gustafsson, Kompost 3, Thumbscrew and guitarist Mary Halvorson, all of them being international artists of the highest caliber, as well as BH musicians with their current projects: Nataša Mirković with French-American trio En El Amor, representing traditional Sephardic music; accordionist Mario Batković and Dejan Terzić ensemble, Axiom. The festival will close with the concert of 40-member Chamber Orchestra of East Sarajevo with conductor Rade Radović.
