Swedish saxophonist, improviser and composer Mats Gustafsson will be performing for the first time for Jazz Fest audience in a solo concert, which will be held on November 3rd at the Dom policije at XX1st Jazz Fest Sarajevo 2017.
Active on scene since the 1980s, the list of his collaborations is more than impressive and includes Sonic Youth, The Ex, The Thing and musicians such as Peter Brotzmann, Barry Guy, Derek Bailey, Misha Mengelberg, Evan Parker…
Music critics call him one of the most appreciated free jazz saxophonists, “the king of the Swedish improv scene” and “the true musical explorer”. His music is brave, free and above all creative, and he performs on more than 200 records, of which 30 are solo albums.
This artist gives free improvisation a completely new meaning, showing the endless potential of the baritone saxophone and his own creative expression. His intense performance opens up exciting worlds of sound, uncompromising and original worlds that are beyond established rules and matrices, or in his own words: “standing with one leg in the punk/garage bucket and the other in the free jazz/improv bucket!“
Concert tickets for Mats Gustafsson are also valid for the concert of William Parker and Hamid Drake, and you can buy them at friendly prices till September 15th.
