New Conception of Jazz live from Oslo

Norwegian pianist and composer Bugge Wesseltoft is playing a concert tonight with his ensemble New Conception of Jazz – edition 2016, with whom he will also be opening this year’s 20th Jazz Fest Sarajevo on 02 November at Bosanski kulturni centar.

With tonight’s performance at 21.00 at Nasjonal jazzscene Victoria, Wesseltoft continues to mark the 20th anniversary of Jazzland, the record label he founded in 1996 as well as 20 years of his New Conception of Jazz project, whose first album of the same name, released by his record label in 1996, received the Spellemannprisen Award or the Norwegian Grammy for jazz album of the year.

The new Wesseloft’s New Conception of Jazz – edition 2016 consists of saxophonist Marthe Lea, guitarist Oddrun Lilja Jonsdottir, drummer Siv Øyunn Kjenstad and percussionist Sanskriti Shrestha. Tonight’s performance is also the first concert of their European tour with more 20 performances around Europe, including the mentioned Sarajevo concert.

Bugge had his first performance at the 11th Jazz Fest in 2007, when he held a solo concert and performed as a member of the ensemble Mungolian Jet Set and the Jazzland Community collective.
