Anniversary release of Mazurek and Parker

Cornetist and composer Rob Mazurek and guitarist Jeff Parker marked their 20th collaboration anniversary with a release named Some Jellyfish Live Forever.

The two artists launched the Chicago Underground workshop together back in 1994, in the city’s famous club The Green Mill and continued their musical partnership in the Chicago Underground Orchestra, Chicago Underground Trio, Tortoise and Isotope 217 ensembles.

Some Jellyfish Live Forever brings five acoustic compositions as a result of a seemingly same, but still different approach to music by Mazurek, whose imaginative approach encompasses limitless sonic possibilities (All About Jazz) and Parker, who is arguably the most exciting and thoughtful jazz guitarist of the past two decades (Chicago Reader).

We will get the chance to hear Rob Mazurek in Sarajevo on 2 November, when he is going to perform with his Sao Paulo Undergound ensemble at the opening of the 20th Jazz Fest.
