In the documentary Marcus, director Patrick Savey gives unique insight into the world of one of most famous bassists of today Marcus Miller.
The movie takes us on a musical journey through history of the famous musician, multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer, from his Afro-American roots and childhood marked by gospel, over famous collaborations with Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Luther Vandros to a successful career of his own.
Through testimonies by Ahmad Jamal, Kenny Washington, Lenny White, Al Jarreau and Wayne Shorter, as well as live performances, the documentary gives an overview over the development of jazz spanning tree decades and Miller’s inevitable part in it.
