The phenomenal Avishai Cohen is coming to Sarajevo

Israeli double bassist Avishai Cohen is going to introduce his trio consisting of pianist Nitai Hershkovits and drummer  Daniel Dor at this year’s, 18th Jazz Fest Sarajevo.

In the past decade, this artist made his way among authorities of the jazz scene not only as an extraordinary instrumentalist but as a prolific author whose compositions are characterized by an authentic style where elements of different traditions and influences are being combined with original music ideas.

Cohen’s music consists of complex but tempting melodies, intriguing changes in tempo and mood combined with spectacular solos that demonstrate an astonishing technique that is at the same time sophisticated and inspiring. Beside his instrumental artistry Cohen also shows a vocal one by singing in Hebrew, Spanish and the language of Sephardi Jews evoking that way the beauty of ancient stories treasured in the heritage of tradition.

Avishai Cohen started his career in the mid 90’s as a sextet member of Chick Corea‘s “new trio”. He recorded and played with names like Bobby McFerrin and Herbie Hancock, pop starts like  Alicia Keys and famous ensembles like the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Today his discography counts 14 albums that he released as a band lieder proving his serious work and production. Corea himself described this versatile musician as a “great composer and brilliant musician”.

The Avishai Cohen Trio will play a concert within the 18th Jazz Fest on 08 November at the stage of BKC. Tickets with a 20% pre-sale discount can be booked here.
