Doublebass player Avishai Cohen who is going to perform with his trio at this year’s Jazz Fest is going to play tonight the first in a series of concerts that will mark the beginning a re-collaboration with guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel.
“Kurt and I know each other since the early nineties when we both were new to the New York jazz scene”, Cohen remembers. “I heard Kurt for the first time at the Smalls Jazz Club. We played together for a while and formed a trio under Kurt’s name and later recorded the album East Coast Love Affair with drummer Jorge Rossy in 1995 that I am very proud of.”
In the meantime the two musicians dedicated their time to own projects and played around the world. After all, stars needed to align for them to start again a collaboration they have been discussing for years. A certain follow-up of their collaboration will start tonight within the festival Jazz a Vilette at a concert in Paris that has been sold out few days ago.
The concert will be streamed live at 9 PM tonight under following link .
Rosenwinkel confirmed that the audience can expect an extraordinary musical experience mentioning that he is looking forward to a concert with “a brilliant composer, bassist and band leader” and invited the audience to a reunion of two musicians and their “new beginning”.
