Blue Note Records to reissue 100 albums on vinyl

The label Blue Note Records celebrates its 75th anniversary this year. On this occasion 100 remastered albums from their catalog will be reissued on vinyl.

The remastering process began two years ago containing jazz albums from the “classic” and “modern” era of the record label. New versions of chosen albums, beside the vinyl, will be available on CD and as high-resolution audio at online shops.

Among 100 chosen albums are releases by Horace Silver, Dexter Gordon, Kenny Burell, Cassandra Wilson, Kurt Elling, Freddie Hubbard, Sonny Rollins and many more.

Blue Note is going to release five albums every month until October 2015. First releases were released last month – Art Blakey‘s Free For All, Wayne Shorter‘s Speak No Evil, John Coltrane‘s Blue Train, Eric Dolphy‘s Out To Lunch and Larry Young‘s Unity.

Next five albums to be released will be available tomorrow – Ornette Coleman‘s At The “Golden Circle” Stockholm Vol.1, Herbie Hancock‘s Maiden Voyage, Sonny RollinsAt The Village Vanguard, Cannonball Adderley‘s Somethin’ Else and Dexter Gordon‘s Our Man In Paris.

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary the label also released Best of Blue Note ICON collection containing among others following compositions – Summertime by Bechet Quintet, Thelonious Monk‘s Round About Midnight, Lee Morgan‘s Sidewinder and Norah JonesCold Cold Heart.
