John Scofield is coming to Sarajevo

On 06 November at the Bosnian Cultural Center, this year’s Jazz Fest Sarajevo is going to present to jazz fans an always welcome festival guest, american drummer John Scofield.

Alongside Pat Metheny and Bill Frisell, Scofield is considered one of the most important guitarists of today’s jazz. Even thought he has been an important name on the music scene for four decades, Scofield’s influence continues to grow as time goes by.

Inspired by rock and blues guitarists, he started to play the guitar at the age of 11. He debuted with Chat Baker, recorded with Charles Mingus afterwards and joined Gary Burton‘s quartet after that. However international fame came after he started recording albums with Miles Davis where he not only played, but started composing. He played world tours with Miles as well.

During his career Scofield complemented his traditional jazz heritage with funk and electronic music always being open to different music styles. The music of this master of improvisation is a crossing between jazz, funk and r’n’b. He plays 200 concerts on average annually with different own groups and spends the rest of his time lecturing at New York’s university.

Tickets for the concert can be booked here. In the meantime listen to a composition from his latest album The John Scofield Uberjam Banda released this year.
