According to music critics opinion Jack DeJohnette was announced drummer of the year at the annual musician of the year poll that has been organized for the 61st time by music magazine DownBeat.
A board of 165 international music critics decided about the winners in categories Jazz, Blues and Beyond.
DeJohnette is one of the most influential jazz musicians of the 20th century who has collaborated with artists like Miles Davis, Joe Henderson, Freddie Hubbard, Keith Jarrett, Sony Rollins, Bill Evans, Chet Baker, John Abercrombie, John Scofield and many more.
The American drummer is currently on European tour with pianist Keith Jarret and double bassist Gary Peacock promoting the album Somewhere, they are going to perform in France, Netherlands, Italy and Germany.
We watched Jack DeJohnette’s quartet in 2005 within the program of 9th edition of the international music festival Jazz Fest Sarajevo.
