New album by Malian singer, composer and guitarist Rokia Traoré will be released at beginning of April under the name Beautiful Africa.
The album was recorded in Bristol, Great Britain. It consists of nine compositions sung by Rokia in French and Bambara, her tribe’s mother tongue, while English appears in refrains of few songs.
First dates of European promo tour of the album have been released as well. Rokia will be performing in the region on 10 May in Slovenia. Her concert is going to open the 29th edition of the Druga godba festival in the venue Križanke in Ljubljana.
For her latest album Tchamantché Rokia Traoré received in 2009 the Victoires de la Musique award, which is the French equivalent to the American Grammy Award. The ABC World Service called the mentioned album “one of the best albums of the year. An absolute stunner.”
