FONT – Festival of New Trumpet Music celebrates its 10th anniversary with an interesting concert program.
Festival founder, composer and trumpeter Dave Douglas put this year’s program together. Just like in previous years, it promises a true musical enjoyment, with concerts at venues all around New York.
The New Yorker called this festival “a grand highlight of the musical season”, while FONT confirms it’s status as innovative music festival of New York’s music scene with it’s program.
“For our tenth festival we decided to offer to the audience an explosion of creative music that spans generations and genres”, says Douglas while announcing the program that started 08 September and will last till 07 October.
The festival opened and will close with two big concerts: Stephanie Richards’ performance Rotations Rotations opened it and Brazilian trumpeter Claudio Roditi with the West Point Jazz Knights is going to close it.
The festival features artists like Charles Tolliver, Tom Harrell and Jack Walrath and rising stars like Adam O’Farrill, Alicia Rau, Bruce Harris and Douglas Detrick.
Dave Douglas will also introduce the new project of his ensemble with guest vocalist Aoife O’Donovan. The album Be Still will be released by the end of this month.
