During the 2007 Australian tour, Esbjörn Svensson, Magnus Öström and Dan Berglund spent their free time between two concerts in Sydney’s well known studio 301, where the material for the new album was recorded in just two days, nine hours of music in total.
The album “Leucocyte”, released in Seprember 2008, is just one part of the material recorded in studio 301 shortly before the tragic death of trio’s leader. E.S.T. fans and critics marked the album as a pioneer project that opens new musical worlds.
Three years later, during last October and November, Berglund and Öström listened to the recorded material again and made a list of compositions with their sound engineer. That list became the new album called by the studio it was recorded at.
The once who already had the pleasure of listening to the album, which was officially released today thanks to longtime E.S.T. label ACT, say nothing but compliments. Guardian gave it 4 stars, BBC called it the ultimate E.S.T. album, and The Independent, besides giving it 5 stars, called Svensson’s compositions masterpieces, highlighting the track “Inner City, City Lights!.
