Percussionist and composer Dafnis Prieto (37) is being received the prestigious MacArthur Foundation award.
The MacArthur Foundation award is $ 500,000 and each year it is awarded to distinguished individuals on the basis of three criteria: their creativity, past results, and potential to make important contributions in the future.
Dafnis Prieto performed first time at Jazz Fest Sarajevo with Steve Coleman’s Five Elements in 2004 and year later in duo with dancer Judith Sanchez-Ruiz.
The award is given to writers, scientists, artists and architects from the United States. This year, 22 exceptional individuals were awarded.
