Gregory Porter, current most wanted male vocalist on world’s jazz scene and Grammy award winner for best vocal jazz album will open the 18th Jazz Fest Sarajevo 2014 in the first November week.
The American artist was declared Vocalist of the Year by prominent JazzTimes music critics, while DownBeat‘s critics pool honoured him with the title Artist Of The Year and Vocalist Of The Year in the rising star category. His concerts around Europe and USA get sold out months in advance, music professionals don’t spare words of praise when it comes to this artist and the media doesn’t hesitate to call him “genius”, “brilliant new jazz voice” and “the next great male jazz singer”.
He has released only three albums, in the past four years, but all three earned him a Grammy nominations. Gregory Porter’s latest CD Liquid Spirit was released in September last year. He is going to present it to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s audience at a concert within the 18th Jazz Fest Sarajevo set for 4th November.
Line up for this year’s program is finalized, seven months before the festival and it contains another three Grammy winners.
Porter’s song Hey Laura from the album Liquid Spirit was nominated for a Grammy for Traditional R&B Performance.
